What is Pickleball?

First things first: what is pickleball? Important information to know before you decide if you want to pick up the sport yourself.

Pickleball is a simple sport involving a plastic ball with mini holes (similar to a wiffleball) and paddles made of wood, fiberglass, graphite, or carbon fiber. The paddles are solid all the way through, unlike tennis rackets. The game itself has similar objectives to tennis—you don’t want the ball to hit the ground on your side of the court, and players must avoid hitting out of bounds.

Servers rotate based on winning and losing points, and you can only score on your serve. The rules are very simple!

What Do We Need to Play Pickleball?

Paddles for everyone playing, a ball, and some water to stay hydrated! Pickleball is a simple sport, so you won’t need much more than that. We do recommend wearing sunscreen and sunglasses to protect yourself from harsh UV rays, though! You can rent equipment at the local clubs, too.
